About

For those interested on our history; here is a little information on the history of how our family company began, and grew over time.

Gloria's Green Gang

The Matriarch of the family and President of the company, Gloria Welch, a preacher's wife, formerly a school teacher moved to Indianapolis from Covington KY in the late 1970's.  With our dad, John Welch in 1981 she started out of their garage, what was then named Gloria's Green Gang.  In its beginnings the company primarily serviced commercial properties for mowing needs.

The move.

In approximately 1985, from a small home in a subdivision on the edge of Speedway, IN, we moved to our current location.  At that time the land surrounding was somewhat rural with farm fields and undeveloped land adjacent.  As we developed our small pole barn with a dirt floor at the time, the company services were expanded pursuing bush-hogging, mowing, and hay-bailing, and shortly thereafter expanding our services to snow removal.  We purchased adjacent agricultural land to our family home to allow for future use and expansion.

The Green Gang Inc.

The business began with slow growth hiring more staff with a simpler name, The Green Gang Inc.  Through much of the 1980's and 1990's we hired 10 or more employees while expanding our services to lawn care as well as landscaping.  In the 1990's we hired a landscape architect from Purdue named Matt Hart, who began adding hardscape and retaining wall installations to our services.

The New Millenium.

In the year 2000, our family business was beginning to transition to a new generation of management.  David Welch received certifications from Purdue's program with the Indiana office of the state chemist for lawn care around that time, and began managing our mowing and lawn care.  In 2003, Nathanael Welch transferred to Purdue University to study Landscape Horticulture and Design, graduating in 2006.
